How-To Unlock bootloader of Xiaomi devices

One thing  advance andriod users love about xiaomi is unlocked bootloader which gives access to root andriod, flash roms, play with the kernals and drivers of your device. It is also one of the reasons why andriod based miui garnished such a popularity.

But xiaomi started locking its bootloader in its recent smartphones for which it has clearly explained the reason behind in its official forum.

Changes in locked bootloader:

• Locking bootloader doesnt effect the OTA udpates
• To root your smartphone you need unlock bootloader first
• updating through recovery mode need Mi PC suite
• you cannot flash fastboot roms on the locked bootloader

How to unlock bootloader of Xiaomi device:

Part A: Apply for Unlock permission

Step 1: Open any web browser and open this link MiUnlock

Step 2: It will open official page of "Mi Unlock Device". Click on Unlock Now button

Step 3: It will open login page, Fill your login details. The page is displayed in chinese you can use google translate to translate the page .

Step 4: Once logged in you will see the "Unlock application page". Fill in all the details and click on the apply immediately button

Step 5: In the next page you need to enter the verification code which is sent to your mobile and click on next . It may take some time to load the page which will display the below page

Wait for the xiaomi officials to manually check your request and accept it. It may take around 2 weeks or less. Until then wait patiently.

Part B: Process of Unlocking Bootloader:

Once you get the confirmation that your account

is granted unlocking bootloader permission follow below method

Requirements for Bootloader Unlocking :

• Mi account linked to your device, your phone number and it has permission to proceed with bootloader unlock (follow the above steps)
• Backup your data in case of wipe out (always backup ROM when flashing rom or unlocking bootloader)
• Download MiFlash Unlock Tool for the windows PC

Follow below steps once you download and install the MiFlash Unlock

Step 1: On your Xiaomi device login with the Mi account which has unlock permission.

Step 2: Reboot your device to bootloader mode. It can be done by switching of your mobile then simultaneously pressing the power button and volume down(-) button.

Step 3: Open MiFlash unlock tool on PC and press I agree.

Step 4: Login with your Mi account

step 5: Now connect your mobile using USB cable.

step 6: Once the mobile is connected the unlock button will become active or wail for 10-20 seconds to become active.Now, click unlock button let the process complete till 100% then it will display unlock successful

After unlock you can root your device and flash custom roms and tweak your andriod with Sound Mods and Xposed Mods.

Release of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus

 After months of waiting finally, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are released. Apple announced both the devices at its launch event in San Francisco. Though the overall design of these devices remain same as that of older devices, there are some notables and pleasant(?) changes. key features that made headlines include water resistant, dust resistant and Airpods.

Key Features of iPhone 7:

Display: The iPhone 7 comes with a 4.7-inch display with 750×1344 resolution at a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch. The new “HD Retina display” is 25 percent brighter than last year’s model. It also includes the pressure-sensitive 3D Touch layer same as that of iPhone 6S.

Home button: The home button is now solid state, which means you can’t physically press or click it in. It is pressure-sensitive, including “taptic feedback”, means that apps can give you three levels of pressure and haptic feedback.The home button doubles up with a fingerprint sensor. It doesn’t feel like a button and so far it has received with mixed responses by Tech world

Chris Velazco of Engadget said, “Man, that new Home button is weird” and and another user said it was “awful.”

Water-resistant: For iPhones fans here is the good news iPhone 7 &7s will be water-resistant (IP67), like Samsung and Sony phones (IP68).

Nomore headphone jack: Surprise surprise there comes a shocker Apple is done with headphone jack .Instead, new EarPods headphones will connect through the Lightning connector port. Apple’s also pushing new,AirPods headset connects wirelessly through auto-pairing.

Camera: The iPhone 7 retains the 12-megapixel camera, but adds a larger aperture and optical image stabilization(OIS) that keeps images steadier. And yes rear camera still features that little bump at the back.

Front camera: The iPhone 7’s front-facing camera is upgraded from 5 megapixels on the iPhone 6S  to 7-megapixel, and includes auto-image stabilization (but not optical image stabilization). It’s a good upgrade as there is a stiff competition in this segment by other models.

Battery life: Greater battery capacity for longer battery life. Apple estimates 12 hours of LTE browsing). As usual Apple never tells us what the battery capacity is.

Processor: The iPhone 7’s new A10 Fusion chip is a 64-bit, quad-core processor which Apple claims 40 percent faster than last year’s A9 processor. Two cores are high-performance, the other two “high efficiency,” which means they’ll conserve battery while handling tasks.

Storage: 32GB, 128GB, 256GB capacities

Colors: Apple has added two new colors Glossy jet black and matte black, where Glossy jet black may feel bit slippery. Personally matte black look more Elegant. Other color include gold, silver and rose gold.

Key Features of iPhone 7 Plus:

iPhone 7 Plus has all the features of iphone 7 with few enhancements in hardware segment.

Display: The iPhone 7 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch display with 1080×1090 resolution at a pixel density of 401 pixels per inch. The resolution combined with “HD Retina Display” sets the new benchmark for the upcoming models.

Ram: The ram in iPhone 7 Plus is tipped to be higher than that of iPhone 7 but there is no official confirmation yet.

Camera: Camera is the major difference between the two models and can be deciding factor in buying 7 or 7 plus. The front facing camera remains same but the rear camera sports a  dual lens.The iPhone 7 Plus has same 12mp lens as the iPhone 7 but it adds a second 12mp telephoto lens which allows 2x optical and the apple software expands to 10x using the software.

Pricing: 

iPhone 7 pricing starts with US $649 for 32GB, $749 for 128GB and $849 for 256GB variant.

iPhone 7 Plus Starts with US $769 for 32GB, $869 for 128GB and $969 for 256GB variant.

Note: iPhone 7 Price in india starts with Rs60000 for 32GB in india but the is no word about 7 Plus or any other iPhone 7 variants. The release date for india is set on October 7.

Bottom line: The iPhone and the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus feel more like ‘iPhone 6S 2.0’ and ‘iPhone 6S Plus 2.0’ upgrades. The removal of the headphone jack is also going to be deciding factor among users. Yet Apple has still done a lot of good work with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in terms of Hardware , They are more durable than ever before, much faster and have extra storage options. With the introduction of dual lens in 7 Plus Apple has taken back the throne from samsung in camera segement.
